Hi,

Just thought i would ask and see if anyone else has had this problem. When i use anything that needs a dialogue box (a query with a parameter to enter or a report with an option that needs defining) the right click options appear to have been disabled. I can press control and V to paste things into this box yet the right click options aren't there. When opening the same file in 2000 the right click option is there. Anyone know if this is a feature that has been removed from 2002?

Cheers

Is the Dialog box a form you created ?

If so, try changing the border style to thin.

Thats the only thing I can think of.

On reflection (Just tried it) It could be because the dialog form does not have a record source.

My suggestion is to make a table with one record and set the record source of the form to it. You dont have to put any fields on the form, but it seemed to enable the right click menus,

Thanks for the replies,

Still having the same problem, this appears to happen in any database running in access 2002 where you have a dialogue box appear to enter a value. explorer features (cut, copy etc..) work when using key commands (ctrl - V etc..) but i do not get a right click window.

If i open the same databases in access 2000 the problem has disappeared almost like this feature has been engineered out of 2002 ( in a backwards step).

Any help would be appreciated.

Having "Allow Default Shortcut Menus" unchecked in startup will cause this.

Just a thought

Cheers for the info on default shortcut menu's. Didn't do the job though. Could someone else who is running access 2002 (all service packs) try and create either a query or report that will utilize a dialogue box for entering say parameter values. When this dialogue box appears could you try and see if you have the option to right click in this box and whether or not the right click options are displayed. Or as i have found you can ctrl V to paste information in but can not get the right click options to appear.

Cheers

Maybe the Access default Dialog box doesn't have the right click menus enabled :(
My suggestion is to create your own popup form.

Thanks for your help, i feel this is one of those cases where Microsoft has removed a feature unnecessarily. Oh well people will just have to get used to good old fashioned keyboard shortcuts. If anyone else has any thoughts on the matter please let me know. I will forward this on to Microsoft just on the off chance.
