Hi,
My database is slowly coming together. For the final part of this phase i would like to create a shortcut on each users desktop which runs a summary report of information within my database.

I have criteria set so upon opening the report the user is asked for which address they wish to see information from which works great. But I do not want users to have access to the database, I just want them to be able to click a shortcut, be asked what address they are looking for and for the report to ping up in a 'Print Preview' type layout so information can be seen and displayed but not altered. All users have the access program.

Could someone help.

I'm not sure I understand the question... You want a run a report in Access but not open Access? Not trying to be difficult but isn't that like wanted to type a letter in Word but not open Word? At one point Access is going to have open even if it does so and then closes. The data is in Access, the prompt is in Access and the Report is there... UNLESS, you put the Report in Word and from you posted doesn't sound like that's a good option.

So, did I misunderstand?

When your database is done, create a password entry form to gain access to the Administrator panel (upon which you'll put the functions that only the Administrators - not the regular users - can do).

Create the summary report, give it a name. Create a control panel for your application, and put two buttons on it: 1. Print Summary Report and 2. Open Admin panel. If the user clicks Open Admin Panel, prompt them with a password box and only open the panel if they put in the right password. The Admin panel should then have the ability to change the password.

Now set the Database's default so it opens the Control Panel automatically. Now use a site like MicroTools.us to convert your accdb file to an executable application, which will prevent the users from accessing the back-end.
