I am running Access 2003 (as part of office 2003) on my xp machine, is it possible to install 2007 (as part of office 2007) as well and run both while I learn more about 2007?

In a word Yes. I have both on my laptop running XP without any problems.

I have A97, AXP A2003 and A2007 all on the same machine - However, I find that A2007 conflicts with AXP and A2003 (but not A97) by causing versions to reinstall themselves as you switch from one to the other.

They work properly, but you can expect this behaviour, I think

I can confirm this behaviour. It doesnt seem to cause any problems but it does take a bit of time

Hi

I am a trainer, and have found all sorts of problems when running both together in a training environment in 2007.

I now run separately to avoid issues...

I rarely use A2007 - I only got it, as a client keeps getting new copies of Access, and now they are A2007 - I tell him he can still use older versions with an A2007 license, but he is using the A2007 where he has it

if you try running multiple versions on Vista you may encounter some errors.

Here is a link with the cause and some possible workarounds.

It isn't a conflict, just that certain registry settings are actually shared by the versions so the installation routines need to run to insert the correct data.

thx bob for the link, will keep it at hand for future reference.
