Hiya

Access 2007

I have my main form (Workorders by Customers), I have a field called [AmountDue) in the header of the main form.

Also in the main form is tabbed - Quotes, Workorders

Each of the above are showen as tables and have the amounts due on them. I want to be able to display the total amount due in the header of the main (Workorders by customers) form the entire total owed by the customer.

Just now I have it as an expression, like - =[Workorders by Customer Subform].[Form]![Amount Due] but that shows nothing

What would be the correct way to show this?

DB added if you need to see

thanks

I do not see the [AmountDue] control. What am I missing?

Hiya

Cheers for the reply

Sorry I didn't send the updated DB. The amount that I want to display is in the Tabbed Workorder page, and there is an amountDue in there (Table View)

On the main form (Workorders by customer) I created an unbound field to hold the amount due.. Don't think that will work tho. So I will add a new AmountDue field in the customers table, and that will be placed on the Workorders by Customer form header.

Hi, I've got a similar issue.

I need to enter in the "total" box in the subform the sum of the fields below.

How to do this?

Hiya Mafhobb

I looked at your DB and got your total working

Just add a total field to your form footer, and do =Sum ([Cost])*([Qty])

In the Total (where you want to show) point the control source to that form footer field

I've added it for you now

Hopefully, I'll get mines working too lol. Wish it was as easy as yours

Hey, this seems to be working!!

Thanks coolcatkelso!

Any idea on how to make it so when a quantity is changed (and therefore the extended cost updated) it updates the running sum too?

Hiya m8

the way I do a refresh, is

Goto deisgn view, rgt click for properties, choose on update and build a macro.. Run command - Refresh, save and close

And I think thats all it is too it from the top of my head. If you get stuck with it, gives a shout, I'll do it for you

Got it. This actually updates the total when updating the quantity in the main form. No, how do I do it so it also updates the running sum when the data is entered from the Add Item form?

Hiya Mafhobb

I got your form working as you wanted.

Running totals are now calculated, and it automatically updates the Total field when you add a new item

Hope this helps

Have a look at the attachment and you will see that;

the current subform total appears on the main form
the current running total appears on the main form.

If you have a look in the form footer of the subform you will see how it works.
Then have a look at the 2 text boxes on the main form.

Hope this is a help.

Hi Ansentry

Cheers for the reply and Attachment

Had a look at it but still not quite there yet.

The one you show in the example is based on the Dsum command using a Query. Although mine is based on the query, I'm actually pulling in two parts to make up the whole "invoicing form"

Materials is one Query and Labour is the Second

All calculating into the Amount which if I remember is in the Workorders section and is unbound.

I'm still not 100% sure of how its working with the Dsum function?

Are you able to look at my DB and see if I'm missing anything on there?

Best Regards

CCK,

I can't open your attachment as I only have 2003,2000 & 97 NO 2007.

Hi John

Again thanks for getting back to me

I've managed to find my old version of this DB. The basic form is still there, but its in 2003 version.

The problem forms are - Workorders by customers (this is where I want all record totals displayed)

The subfrom containing everything is Workorders by Customers

If your able to help on this DB I will manage to work it out on the newer version

Cheers m8

Oh, forgot to mention, you will have to Hold the SHIFT key to get access to it as the time trial expired lol
