Very quick question... hopefully...

Does anyone know how I can have a form property as Locked=True but still allow the user to use the scroll bar??

Many Thanks

:)

Set the RecordsetType property to Snapshot or set the AllowEdits and AllowAdditions properties to False.

Just to clarify - would the above be instead of using the .locked property?
At the minute the subform in question (which the scroll bars are on) is part of an array in which the locked and enabled properties are set? Would I have to take this particular form out of the array and just do the above instead? It at no point needs to be editable - it is for users to view only...

Thanks

Sorry, forgot to also mention, at the moment on open of the form its properties are set to the following

Enabled = False
Locked = True

thanks

I don't know how you did it but if (for all the controls) you set the Locked property to Yes and the Enabled property to No, the scroll bars should still be active. Is this what you did?

What scroll bars are you referring to, the form or a control's scroll bar?

It is a sub form. On open of the form its properties are set to Enabled = False; Locked = True.
The scroll bar is a vertical one which runs down the side of the sub form - at the moment it will not move...
There are also smaller scroll bars within the sub form (which is set to continuous forms) - when the text gets too much for the size of the field a scroll bar appears - these are also unmovable...

Set those properties for each control (i.e. textbox, checkbox etc) in the subform. Don't set thethe subform's control.

Unfortunately, I am still confused... I have now changed the subform properties as suggested. When I open the subform itself, the scroll bars work; in design view, the scroll bar works... in form view it does not?? Could it have something to do with other properties on the main form??

Also didnt mention, the subform is on a tabbed control... could this be affected it?

If you read my last post I mentioned you should NOT set the Enabled and Locked properties of the subform control. I don't know how much easier it can be explained.

Go into your subform, highlight all the textboxes, checkboxes ... etc (i.e. excluding Labels) and change the Locked property to Yes and the Enabled property to No. Then go back to the subform control and re-enable it, i.e. change its Locked property to No and its Enabled property to Yes.

Thank you for the advice, I had already done as you have suggested in your last post...

I did go into the sub form, highlight all the textboxes, checkboxes ... etc (i.e. excluding Labels) and change the Locked property to Yes and the Enabled property to No. Then I went back to the sub form control to re-enable it, i.e. change its Locked property to No and its Enabled property to Yes.

What I had failed to realise was that the tab control page itself that the sub form is on was set to enabled = no - I have changed this now and everything is working fine.

Good job! :)

Thanks, sometimes it takes a while to explore ALL options, especially when I just don't think to look at some of them! ha ha! Still, it's a good learning curve for me to take forward. I have to demo what I have done so far to my MD next week so I am just trying to 'iron out the creases' and make sure everything thats been done so far does work - he would be the first to pick up on any small thing! :-)

Show your MD the things that work and take a long time doing it :D

Like that idea! That can be 'plan B' as I have to say, I like the idea of it all working better. Two bugs down today, a few more to go ... its all fun :-)
Thanks again for your help and patience

I was just kidding :) It's good to have it all working because I bet your MD would ask about functionalities that wasn't demoed.

Happy developing!
