in design view for a form, i have 2 scroll bars (vertical and horizontal). when i switch to form view to run it, i only have a horizontal scroll bar. i checked form properties and both scroll bars are selected. how do i display a vertical scroll bar when i run a form?

Resize your form in display view to be smaller than the detail, page header/footer + report header/footer sections. Or conversely, resize the sections in your form to be larger than your screen.

Are you wanting to navigate through the records using the scroll bar? If so, that is not what it is for.

Hi pdx_man,

What are the vertical scroll bars for?

Make your form really tall. Add some controls over to the far bottom. Go to the form view and you will need them to be able to navigate down on your form.

Why are they needed? Some users are still using small monitors while forms are being developed on larger ones. These poor folks need the vertical scroll to get to them.

You can turn them off, then use Pages to navigate to the lower parts of your form. Check out the Page Break control in the toolbar, then have a command button that will take you to page 2.

i have already inititiated the need for one. there are controls and fields at the bottom. i just can't see them. i want to use the vertical scroll bar to scroll down the form and view my other fields. the form i have created is long. within the form there is also a subform. on my subform i do have a vertical scroll bar and i am able to see my other fields in form view, but in the main form i can't. the horizontal scroll bar controls seem to be working fine.

Hmmm ... what is the Border Style property set to? Sizable? Make sure all of your controls are in the Detail section ... Is there any code on the form that would hide (visible = false) any sections ... controls ... whatever?

yes border style is sizable and the fields are also in the detail section. everything is also visible. in fact, when i switch to form view i can see a blank space where the scroll bar should fit exactly. is this a bug in the software?

No, not a known bug that I am aware of ... place a control at the 20" position on your form and go into form view. Do you get the scroll bar now?

I sure don't. the form stops at the 6" mark and leaves me hangin without a scroll bar.

uhh ... why? What kind of errors are you getting? Are you zipping the DB? What size is it?

yeah i am zipping it. it's about 260k. i am getting returned mail everytime i send it to the provided address. is it correct? do you have another? can i post it on this site?

email address is correct. Go ahead and post to this site.

yeah, don't know why i keep getting it returned. anyway man, it tells me that the file is too big. it's about 200kb. is there any way to compress the database before i zip it? i'll try you email address again to. cheers.

I receive about 3 DBs a month from folks here, so ... A common error people do is to mis-spell my name. A lot of times they use dhenley, and that won't work ...

yeah, i just sent another one to that address. i copied and pasted from the one you provided.

You are using a tabbed control located in the Form Header. Move the control to the detail section and change the Default View to Single Form.

no this doesn't work. did you try it? do you see a scroll bar where there should be one. i am beginning to think it's my version of it.
