Hi

I have just put together a small database, and have used the user-level security wizzard to set up groups so i can restrict access to the database.

I have also been through all the user and group permissions and tried to set the security up so that the data entry staff can enter data but not change any of the forms or queries.

This is where i am hitting the wall.... although i have set up this protection, when i access the database under the staff name and password I am still able to view the forms and queries in design view and change them.

Can someone plaese point out where I am going wrong

Thanks very much :)

Are you having the users access the database through the special shortcut? If not, you should and you should also create a user name that you can assign to the Admins group and then pull the Admin user out of the Admins group (make a copy first before doing that so in case it gets screwed up, you don't get screwed by not having a backup).

im not quite sure what you mean....yes i have been going throught the special shortcut. I have set up two users one as staff who area member of the 'full data users' and on as myself and i am a member of the 'admins' (they both have passwords when the data base is opened)

Have you removed the user "ADMIN" from the Admins group. If the user ADMIN is a member of the Admins group, then all users will be able to access the database with the normal System.mdw workgroup file.

This sounds like the same issue I had with one of my db's
I have a pdf that will show you how to protect your db. this pdf is to large to upload (154kb) Send me your emal if you have not fixed this yet and I will email it to you.

hmm, i think i have but it is still the same, i must be doing something wrong.

For now i might run with the PDF Jman is talking about

Jman I have sent you a PM with my email
