My issue is a group in my company has a Access database they have been using for several years. The person who created the database left the company a few years ago. Unfortunately today the database will not work saying it cannot open frmFormMain or something like that. I was asked by this group to fix the problem. Of course I know NOTHING about Access security and when I try to open the .mdb file directly I get a error saying "the current user account doesn't have permission to convert or enable the database" I assume the database was created in a pervious version than what I am using, but I am trying to figure out if there is a way I can give myself the permissions I need to open the mdb file. I know this is not much information, but if anyone can help point me in the right direction or anything it would be appreciated. Like I said the person who developed the application is long gone and other than users nobody has touched this application in a few years.

Hi talon444,

I understand what currently your are facing now. To solve the problem try open the existing database with the previous MS Access ei: Access 2.0, 97, 2000 or 2002.

Then look to the Tools Menu - Go to Security - User Group & Permission. Ensure that your are the Admin.

Open a new Db, try import everything in the existing DB to a new DB then try convert to the latest version if this currently that you need to do.

Hopefully can solve you problem.

Best regards,
