I know that access already has the option to send the information to Outlook Express. However, I am wanting to write code that by clicking a button will not only send the raw data but will put it on the form itself. Also, I was wondering if there was a way to send information to Lotus Notes instead of Outlook.

Any help would be appreciated.

As far as Lotus Notes goes, try this thread (sorry I can't credit the original person I boosted this off of): http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/ubb/Forum1/HTML/006840.html

As for your other question I'm not sure what you mean. You have the data in one database and you're trying to move it to another (not networked, apparently)?

HTH,

Thank you. Unfortunately, our computers have both outlook and lotus on them. We use Lotus exclusively though. When I entered the code, it pulled up outlook instead of Lotus. Any suggestions? As to the other half of my question, I am not sure there will be a solution. The database would not be located on a network. Maybe a better way to think of my problem would be to assume that I want to e-mail a form or a report to someone who does not have access. Is there anyway I can send the information and retain the look of the form or report?

Send them the snapshot viewer first. Once they install it, any Access generated reports should retain their formatting perfectly.

I believe if you set Lotus Notes as your default email client, the method will work, but it does require some tweaking on all users' computers. We still have Virus Express installed but don't use it for obvious reasons.

HTH,

Thank you very much for your feedback. The snapshot viewer looks like it will be exactly what I need. Do you know if it works with all versions of access or just 97? As for changing my default e-mail client (I don't mean to show my naivety), how does one go about that? The only wizards I've ever seen try to make me setup outlook express (must be a Microsoft conspiracy).

I can only vouch for Snapshot w/ Access 2000. The big drawback is that the recipients have to have it installed before they can view--I wish the conspiracy would hurry up and make Snapshot one of the standard viewers...

As far as making Lotus Notes your default email client, I found a couple places this is referred to.
The main setting is under Start>Settings>Control Panel (the path to control panel is different in older versions of Windows)>Internet Options (which, in fine Windows tradition, opens a box called Internet Properties)>E-mail: You should have a dropdown here with Lotus Notes as one of the options. Unfortunately I don't know how to add it if it's not there, you might try the Windows Forum.
If that doesn't work, there is also this setting under Lotus Notes 5.0.6a: File>User Preferences>Mail & News>Mail Program: Choose Lotus Notes.

HTH,
David R

Thanks again. Lotus wasn't an option for the mail client (just outlook and hotmail) and Lotus was already selected in the user preferences on Lotus Notes. I will keep looking around. I think snapshot will work perfectly. Thanks again.
