Sending email

I am using following command to send my email using a button:
DoCmd.SendObject acSendNoObject,,,,,,"Subject","Message",True

If the Outlook is not open at the time that I want to send the email, my database is blocked. How can I check if Outlook is open or not, and if not, open the Outlook before it sends the email. Thanks ...
