A random and mysterious error 2486 "You can't carry out that action at the present time" appears, sort of freezes people's machines, and makes them angry at me. I can find no documentation on this error whatsoever anywhere. If anyone has ever seen it before, please at least reply that it exists outside of this sick company I am contracting for.

more info - the error only occurs when filters are on, and the code gets stuck on DoCmd commands. The program then works, but gets stuck on every DoCmd and needs to be shut down to start over again. Help!

not sure what 2486 is but having read your previous post I do know that Access is not happy about certain events on current, you could try changing them to before or after updates

If I remember, 2486 refers to running a DoCmd while a query is still running. Check out the coding used for your underlying recordsource. You might have to put in some error trapping to end. It appears as though you might be in a loop.
Good luck.

I had to call Microsoft. So far two engineers there are "throwing darts at it", having never heard of this sort of problem. It probably has to do with conflicts in References, but haven't solved it yet. Ugly.
