Set Date For Leavers

I wondered if someone could help.

My query is set to show all Live employees with certain benefits by a particular date.

So I enter date: 15/05/2006 and all employees with benefits are shown.

Some Employees have a set leaving date, how can I set the criteria:

If an Employee has a Leaving date greater than 15/05/2006 then show Employees else if leaving date before 15./05/2006 do not show?

I am running this query through a form and using criteria:

>[Forms]![Benefits]![date1], however this only provide me with leaving dates after 15/05/2006.

What I need to show is all live employees where leaving date is 00/00/0000 and where leaving date greater than 15/05/2006.
