I have posted a couple questions her in the last week and have gotten tremendous help from the community. I have learned a number of tricks that I either didn't know or didn't think of. With that in mind I'd like to post several more little things.

First, is there an easy way to keep forms together? My main form uses movesize to set the position but then I click a button on the main form to open a secondary form it may be centered on the screen. Is there a quick way to keep them together or do I need to use movesize on each forms on open event?

Second. Same question for a msgbox.

Third, I use this code....

strFileName = Dir("\\s1wicis1\Local_DBs_Public\Laney PMSC\laney.ozx")
If strFileName <> "Laney.ozx" Then
DoCmd.OpenForm ("Maintenance")
End If

to kick people out when I need to make changes. I change the name of the file and then the "Maintenance" form just tells them they're about to be kicked and then closes the database after a minute. Is there a better way to do this?

and finally... the office screen itself. What's the best way to keep it hidden with popup forms? I've used some code to minimize it before but I'd like some suggestions. I want to thank all you guys for helping me learn Access and I look forward to seeing your ideas.

keep together? if you must maximize they are all behind 1 another.
if you don't max, do you mean centered on the screen?

msgbox is centered.

Today was a perfect example. The form is about 4 inches wide and it is centered on the screen. The operator moved it to the right side and opened facebook so they didn't see the msgbox pop up and told me it wouldn't let them enter any information. "it just locked up" lol

just tried out something. form.windowleft gives me the left side so I should be able to set the msgbox to always open in position relative to the form. I think.

so now the question is how can I do this from a button on form1

docmd.openform "form2"

with this argument

docmd.movesize, form.windowleft, form.windowtop

so that on the click of a button it opens form2 in the same position as form1?

I think it's maybe a general design issue

If a msgbox does not appear, I assume it is behind a form with popup set to true. Is that correct?

If so, what sort of form do you need to be popup (ie always visible)?

The problem isn't one of visibility but more awareness. When the operator moved the form from the center he no longer noticed that the msgbox was opening there. I changed from a msgbox to a form with an onopen event of

DoCmd.MoveSize Forms!frmoperator.WindowLeft + 5000, Forms!frmoperator.WindowTop + 3000

this way no matter where he moves the form the message form always pops up un the same place in relation.
