64bit

Hi all,

I have a product that i compiled to a accde but my machine is a 64 bit machine. My friend whom I'm sharing with has a 32 bit machine but will run the product in a run-time environment. First of all will this work? Second, what happened to the packaging wizard within access?

Also, what is the best way to share a file with someone that isn't super computer literate. I was hoping to give the person the packaged product for the package to determine if a run-time is needed and to download it if needed.

So to clarify, i'm my computer is 64 bit but my version of office is 32 bit...Still a little confused about why this is but that's a tangent. I've tried running the product on my old labtop which is a 32 bit machine running windows vista and access 2007. says it isn't using the most up to date version and i need to upgrade. I've also tried running on that same laptop with the 2010 runtime...no worky

It really does not matter if you have 32 bit or 64 bit OS. All that it counts is the Access version. If you have Access 64 bit installed and compile to an ACCDE using that, the ACCDE file can only be used in Access 64 bit. The same applies to an ACCDE compiled with a 32 bit. It can only be used with an 32 bit Access not 64.

The only way you can get around is, compiling Access in the correct bit version.
