Hello

I've just created a database and want it to be used by other employees. I have read up how to do this and have split the database. The FE and BE are on the main server and I have put a front end copy on the C drive of the other computers. Now I'm stuck!

When I open the file on the other computers I receive a message to say the "Database has been opened read only. You can only change data in linked tables".

How do I link the tables?

I would be very grateful if somebody could let me know in laymans terms please - I'm not a techy!!

Looking forward to hearing form you.

Thanks, Alex

Alex, If you have split the database following the wizard and have done nothing but copied the front end file there is nothing to worry.. What has happened here I believe is the choice of location, most 'company' system will not allow Write permission on C drive mostly because the OS stays there..

So try copying it to your local Documents or where you might have Read/Write/Execute permission, should sort the problem..

Thanks Paul. I tried what you said and it now works.

You saved me a big headache!! Cheers.
