I have an access database that I used to be able to share between 5 different people (we were all able to input data at the same time) Something has changed and now only one person can get in to work on it at a time. If someone else tries it tells them that it can't find the database. Has anyone seen this before and if so what's the fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please verify:

it can't find the database

Are you sure you don't mean "can't OPEN the database" ...?

I've never seen a database become "invisible" like that when someone is in it. Does the DB try to rename itself while it is open? Even if the problem is a bad workgroup file, the file should be visible.

Here's a couple of questions for you. When the DB gets like this, can you see it using ordinary windows methods - i.e. opening the folder in which it resides? Can you also see the .MDW file that goes with it? Even if the icon cannot open the file, can you open the file by directly double-clicking on it from the window opened to the folder where it resides?

I've seen this problem on Win XP. I have no idea what the cause is, but sometimes you need to move it to "Shared Documents" in order for it to work, even if the folder itself is shared.

Sometimes the network guy does something that corrects it, but I don't know what.
