Sharing CPU time

When I run a procedure that does loads of number crunching, my PC freezes. Is there a way to share the processor time with the rest of Windows?

then whatever your procedure is that is making you freeze up.

effectively doevents releases the cpu to service other pending events

in theory your process takes a little longer to run, (you only have one cpu) but the system as a whole is more responsive, and gives a better user experience, as you have seen
