I would like my table to show the result of a calculations (or a formula). I surmise that you can not have a column cell calculate data, however if I can do this in the Form View and on a Report - can it just SHOW on the Table so I do not have to keep switching back and forth to see the information.

I am new to Access and think the forum will be a big help to me.
Thanks

Hi,
as a general rule we do NOT want to store calculated values in table fields. They can be calculated at runtime on forms/reports or in queries just as you are.

Good luck

Sandra, a good idea for calculations, is to store them in queries, so you can easily refer to them on forms or reports. A good example would be if you had two table columns UNITS and UNITPRICE....a calculated column would then be produced in a query and specified as [table.UNITS]*[table.UNITPRICE] AS Extended Price.

Welcome to the forum. =)

Also, you should be presenting things in FORMS and REPORTS and not letting users work directly in tables or queries. You lose too much control when you do.
