I am using the Image Control to show a thumbnail of an jpg file. This works fine.

Is there any way to show the file tiles or thumbnail for (say) a Word document, .pdf or Excel file? I cannot find anything on the web.

Many thanks :)

Where are you showing it continuous form?

Yes. A continuous form of linked files and images. The path is the image control source of the path.

I guess I need something like an explorer control.

Just download any png ir bmb pics for .xls pdf docs and use it as thumb nail. Kind if cheat.

Thanks but that is not really practical for a working application. Really need the 'frame' to act like an explorer window. In other words, if I use an Image Control, it only works for images.

That is not what my client wants.

Hi Ted

Do you mean to say File Title vice File Tiles ??

Tiles. In windows explorer, when you view a folder you see tiles witb a graphic of tbe file.

That is what I am aiming to reproduce, if possible.8

You can use screen gabbing soft then finished it in photoshop.

It needs to be dynamic when the file path is set in the form using FileBrowse.

If it cannot be done because there is no Explorer ActiveX then so be it.

I don't think you can do so and this link seems to confirm that:

Attached is a list of the extended properties for a Word doc which includes a thumbnail property.
The list was generated using a utility that I posted to sample databases a few months ago:
https://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=294548

However, it doesn't seem to list that property which is a bit strange ... so I'm not sure how you can pull the thumbnail property

Looks like you may have to export it as a static image or place it in a web browser control as already suggested
