How best to create a menu (toolbar?) like the one used to navigate the www.access-programmers .co.uk website in MS Access 2007? Is it possible to place the toolbar on the side? Last, is it possible to click on a menu selection and have sub-menus be displayed?

Samples would be very helpful!

YES! See here if it's non-2007 (it hasn't been tested for MSAccess 2007 but works nicely with previous versions): http://www.dbforums.com/6301669-post51.html

Download and look at:
1. FormManipulation2 - Some Cool Button Effects
2. FormManipulation2 - Task Pane Example

You'll need to be familiar with vba coding though as it requires vba knowledge to tweak for your needs. Read the coding comments to tweak.

Have you checked out the new navigation form in Access 2010? It can do side navigaton too.
