Hi,

I have a database for booking equipment in and out.

I have the backend stored on a shared drive on our LAN, and the front end on each client machine.

The database has been working fine until just now, it runs very slow and my DCount functions have stopped displaying data.

I have no idea why this has happened, please help?

"Slow" happens on a network DB as it grows. Losing the results of a DCount is the more worrisome symptom. You should first try to repair and then compact your DB.

Next, if that does not help, then ask yourself what, if any, code or layout changes have occurred since this worked correctly. A DCount usually fails because what it is counting can't be counted. I.e. the field ain't there no more. If you have a criterion argument (3rd arg of the DCount, equivalent to the WHERE clause), a change to one of the fields in the criterion would also disable the function.

Also, if DCount truly fails, the question is, how? I.e. does it just return 0? Or does it return an error? If the latter, what error?
