hello there, could someone please help me i'm trying to design a database for my soccer team. please view *.jpg attatched. I have a form called matchday and on that form i have a combobox with formations. does anybody know how, when a formation is selected from the combobox, the relavant formation is shown. I have designed a 4-4-2 formation and that is the one shown as a subform on the screen. i think i have to design each formation as a form, and then go to that form when it is selected ont he combobox but i do not know how to do this, any help much appreciated thankyou!!!
Richard.

I think the way to go would be to have:
1) hidden controls which you make visible or invisible
2) move them about using me.control.top and me.control.top = 10 (measured in Twips [twip: Unit of measurement that is equal to 1/20 of a point, or 1/1440 of an inch. There are 567 twips in a centimeter.]

Moving them with a table behind it for the layout of the screen would be my way to go.

sorry i don't quite understand what you mean, i'm not very experience, could you please try and explain further. also would your idea ensure that the formations are dependent on records selected, like from week to week, the formations would be different and i would wish for these to be saved as each record would be a week.

Namilam's example has given you the means to dynamically change your formation. To extend it to your current Db, You may need to tinker with it as the form in his example may actually be a subform in your Db (depending on your data structure). It also, by using a form reference to store the positions, allow you to easily create your own formations (however unusual or mainstream) and add them to your Db.

The only problem with this example is that it forces you to have a flat file type Db for your positions ie store all 11 (or do you want to include reserves) positions in one table if you use this form to enter player data.
I have a similar Db for a rugby team and use this type of form to display the formation but store the player positions in a more normalised structure.
