Ok...Access newbie here..VERY newbie..

I am trying to get colum "Age Group" in table "A" to autofill based off of info from colum "Age" in table "A" AND colum "Age" in table "b" and corresponding colum "age group" in table "b"

table "b" looks like this:

Age AgeGroup
17 17-19
18 17-19
19 17-19
20 20-25
etc

I am looking for table "a" to look at the value inputted by the user in the Age colum of table a..compare it to the age colum of table b and return the correct age group in the appropriate colum of table "a"

Hope I explained myself..thanks for any help!

Are you trying to do this in table view, datasheet view, or on a form?

Why so many columns with the same field (Age) ?

Also, it's not recommended to store a person's age. You should always use their date of birth as their age can be calculated at any time from this. Storing age means you have to update records unnecessarily.

Ok..what I hope to accomplish is creating a way for my office to track the Physical Fitness data (I'm in the Military) of the soldiers.

Our APFT (Fitness test) is a 3-event test (Push ups, Sit ups, and 2 mile run) which a score is calculated based on age group, reps, and run time.

I hope to be able to expand the DB so that I can track several training type issues along with the APFT data...

I have built tables for the age grps, the scores by reps and age grp etc..I just can't figure out how to make it compare the info.

The main table will be populated by a form...I want the data inputted in the form to look to the approprate table to calculate and autofill where required.

I can email what I have so far if it would help...
