The goal is to send each donor a list of their year-to-date donations. I actually thought I had what I wanted till I realized that two sisters with the same last name and the same address were not getting their own statements. I had grouped on last names so any duplicates were lumped together.

It's then that I realized there's actually a point to those primary key ID numbers. :o When I add the Donor's ID to the report and group by it, I get what I want--except the reports are now sorted by ID instead of alphabetical order. It's not really a big deal, but I'd like alpha order and THEN ID number grouping. But I'm getting some really funky-looking reports now with a bazillion headers and footers.

If someone can help me, this is how I want it to look:

Thank you for supporting our organization--your donations are greatly appreciated!

Miss Edna Smith

Anytown, USA

1/10/14 $200.00 Check 4321
7/10/14 $200.00 Check 4320
Year-to-Date: $400.00

The ID number would not be shown, nor would the LastName field because "Miss Edith Smith" is a calculated field called "AddressAs".

So IS it possible to sort and group by fields that aren't actually in the report?

And about reports in general--I can't figure out for the life of me the differences between the options of stepped, block, outline. Is there any place to actually see print-ready reports using these 3 options?

I appreciate your help!

1. Sorty by Name
2. Group By ID

... as long as the fields exist in the Record Source.

Success--hooray!

Thanks!
