Hi, I am beginning to learn SQL but I wanted to know the difference of the following:

1. What is the difference between Microsoft SQL and MySQL?

2. if I am going to use MySQL, where am I going to download it free. and What do I need to design the database?

if yes then both are different database products

I would suggest starting with the MySQL documentation.

You download it from mysql web site (search in google)

you have to download database, odbc connector for mysql and graphical user interface tools to manage and link mysql databases to access

i have been searching what you stated khawar regarding gui tools, but i didnt find it in mysql website or maybe i am not that good at searching. can you possibly give me link to the site where to download that gui, db, and connectors !

anyway khawar what is the database that you stated earlier that I need to download?

only mysql 5.1 and not workbench or something others like that. coz im confused. there is also mysql data warehousing....hmmmm....im not familiar with those. so the database to use is and download is mysql 5.1 right?
