SQL Server copying for MI database

Hi,

Just needed your advice.

We have 2 sql server 2008 databases.

One for PRODUCTION the other for MI and reporting.

On a daily basis(or more), i need to move data from the production be copied to the MI database automatically.

Whats the best/quickest/risk free way of doing this?

Also will there be performance gains overall by using this approach of replicating the database?

Can you backup and restore it? or does your reporting database have older data than your Production database?
