SQL Woes

I need to convert my application to a SQL database. I am new to SQL Server and am somehow missing a conceptual link. I cannot figure out how to connect to my SQL Server from the SSMA. Everytime I try I get a connection error. Is there some directions somewhere that can walk me through the installation settings for SQL as well as how to get my Access (Jet) Database migrated to a SQL Server Database?

You might want to try SSIS, SQL Server Integration Services. That's the tool to move tables to SQL Server.
