Subform query (1 Viewer)

I want to, on the click of a button on one form, open another form (linked by project number), go to a new record in its subform (continuous forms view), perform a few calculations (based on a value passed from the previous form) and close the form again without the user seeing whats going on.

I have the form opening at the required record from the previous form but I cant get the focus set to a new record on the subform.

Once I can get this working I know how to pass a value from the previous form into the subform to carryout these calculations.

Can anyone put me out of my misery?
