Subsidized housing

the neighbors are really nice here you guys. it is more of a retirement community more than a place for rubber necks. doc man, there are no thugs here. it's really quite a peaceful place.

do you know of anyone, ANYWHERE, now that still does this? I don't.

My daughter and son-in-law, but they lived on an Air Force base so... It took me a while to be able to leave the house and not lock the door.

It's like many of our childhoods: free range kids, unlocked doors, etc.

Wait -- So it actually IS possible for thousands of people to discipline themselves not to steal things from each other? A sense of obedience and serious consequences?

As an American I had no idea this was even an option. Wow!! Very interesting.

Well, truth be told, there is a police force on the base. ;)

well, ok, but still - if you don;t lock your door there, that's a measure of how things are and kinda cool..

If you don't lock your door and something is stolen, your insurance becomes invalid due to your stupidity and incompetence.
