In order to correct some problems in 2010 I needed to copy all my forms from an MDB created by 2003 to an MDB created by 2010.

As a result my forms have lost the "Sunken" special effect (they look flat). Although, when I go into properties it still reports the special effect as "Sunken". I'm wondering is there is something like a "style sheet" in 2010 that is overriding the setting in the special effect field.

Anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks.

It could be the use 'Windows Themed controls' is ticked in one database and not the other. Look in the Current Database section of Options in 2010 and Tools/Options in 2003

Yep, and to get sunken back you'll need to first select the control and make the *Shape Outline* a color, like Light Grey and then select the *Special Effect* of Sunken.

Tip: Select all of them so you can at once, especially if you have a lot of controls.

I could not find a property for my text boxes called Shape Outline. However, I tried a similar thing with a property called Border Style. I changed it from "Solid" to "Transparent". When I did that it change the Special Effect property from Sunken to Flat. Then I changed the Flat back to Sunken and that did the job!

Thanks VERY, VERY much!!

That saved me untold amount of work opening all my forms to change the controls!!!

FYI... It's on the Format tab whle in Design Mode. Though I see you got it solved.

Yes, clicking the Windows Themed checkbox solved my problem without the need to open any forms.

However, I still don't see "Shape Outline" property for a text box. Could it be called something else in 2010?

Nope, I'm in Access 2010, it's on the *Format* tab once you click on the Text Box in Design Mode.

Never mind. I see you are not referring to the property sheet. You are referring to the format menu. Note my reference to "Property" in the earlier posts. Mystery solved.
