I was wondering, if I could get some insite on some things?

  1. Multiple db one for tables and another for forms? or single with all forms and data in one? (Advantages / Disadvantages)
  2. what is a switchboard and why would I want to use it?
  3. Anyone have a good link to show how to export query or table to an already exsisting excel spreadsheet (apend data at the bottem)?

There are a lot of advantages and some disadvantages to splitting a db.

By splitting

It can make things easier for constant development.
It is better for security implications
Easier to allow multiple users
Can be faster especially on a sever-side system

A switchboard, in basic terms, is a form used to navigate a db's forms, reports and other facilities.

There are examples built in to Access to illustrate the various types of export. But a lot depends on what, exactly, you want to do. Do you need to export or do you need to replace or append an excel sheet? Have you considered linking?

All three of your questions can be answered in more depth but a lot really does depend on what you are looking for and what you hope to achieve.

For each one of your questions it is possible to write a small book for of answers and scenarios

Cool! :) Thnkyou, So why would you use a switchboard over just creating another form?, What makes it more secure having your database seperated, the only thing I could think of is that if one file gets corrupted you only loose half of the db which have is unknown lol :)

Inregards to the extract feature I am looking for the ability to press a button and have it either create the file if one is not already there and if one is then apend data to that exsisting excel spreadsheet.

Personaly, I prefer to create my own switchboards. But using the inbuilt wizard is a lot easier and more convenient than doing it progamaticaly.

On its own, seperating a db dosn't, necessarily, make it more secure. But it does open up more possibilities on the security front.

I'm not really the person best to talk to on the excel-Access issue but I would have thought that using a linked table would be useful. You could use an append query to update. But your question is still to vague for my liking.
