Hi! I am working in Thailand and am setting up a library database for the school I work at. This database will be put on the English teachers Network, which has been recently created. The database is not on the network yet because there are a few problems. Thsi database will be used by about 35 people. No user codes will be used. Here are a few small problems I've encountered recently:

1. My switchboard default is not opening when I access the database. I used a wizard to create the switchboard manager and made some aesthetic changes to it. Also, is there a way to put passcodes only on certain forms accessable through the switchboard?

2. Topic search is ineffective (set it up as a parameter query). In the database I added a memo field to collect content info on the books, etc. This was to allow a user search for books that contain specific content.

3. Still have to make it a multiple user database so that users can read the reports and run a query. They will not be entering any data. Not sure how to start that. Do I do this after I move the database to the network drive?

As I am in Thailand, my systems administrator doesn't speak English and my Thai is not that technical. As you can see I have limited access experience but I learn fast. Can anyone help me?

Thanks for any help you could lend.

How are your programming skills?
Could you post what you have?

Hi Dara

As mentioned by Guus, if you posted the database we could take a look at it and offer some suggestions.

Best regards

Maurice

If you are using access 2007 click the office button -> access options -> current database -> display form -> main switchboard

you should look into access runtime. it will hide access to everything except what you put in the switchboard :)
