Hi,

Thanks in advance!

My current switchboard manager has 8 items now, but want to add more items, some post tells to edit switchboard Itmes table, could anyone tell me where is the switchboard Itmes table?

Also, I coped one item on the switchboard, changed names, why it does not show up in form mode?

Not exactly sure but it may be a Hidden/System table if it's not visible already. Enabling one of these would bring it up. I'm guessing you're using pre Access 2007?

Thanks so much!

I am using access 2003, I can not find the hidden/system table, could you tell me how to do that?

After enabled, still no switchboard items table. is it possible it was created by a query or some different way?

You shouldn't mess directly in the switchboard items table. You use the Switchboard manager to deal with the Switchboards. Also, the switchboard can only have 8 items at a time so you need to use the manager to create another page and one of the 8 on the main form needs to be able to go to the next page.

In 2003 you go to Tools > Database Utilities > Switchboard Manager (if I remember correctly).

Hi,
Actually, the switchboard already has 9 items there, I want to add one more, but can not find switchboard items table, even the code has it.

I just start VBA, If switchboard is not easy, then I want to go to a form ,add a button, then go to another form ,but do not know how to add a new form(The toolbox does not have it). but prefer to use switchboard.

Any idea?

Found this : http://www.techonthenet.com/access/switchboard/increase.php

But still can not find switchboard item table, could anyone know?

Thanks.

Can you post the database or a scaled down version of it.

Sorry about that, it is too big.

View>database objects> all the objects are disabled, could anyone tell me why and how to make them visible.

Thanks for help.

If you still cannot find the table then I would strongly doubt that you created a switchboard via the Switchboard Manager. You may have copied the switchboard form and not copied the table.

In all honesty, it would be a whole lot easier for you to create your own switchboard. What you need to bear in mind is that the switchboard is just a form. Create a form, drop a few buttons, use the Docmd.Openform method to open your forms.

The Switchboard Table should show up for you if you have checked the show SYSTEM tables checkbox as noted before. If you still can't get it, perhaps you should upload a copy of your database here.

Apparently, the db is too big and the OP isn't willing to upload it.

Since they just want the switchboard table to show, I'd be fine if they took a copy, deleted all tables, queries, forms (except the switchboard), macros and modules. Then compact and repair and then zip and upload. We can then get to the bottom of it or create screenshots to show them how.

Hi, all

Thanks so much for your great help!

I can see it now after I enable the system tables.

Have a nice weekend!

Whew! I'm glad you got it sorted. Have a good weekend too. :)

Would have been sorted a long time ago. Phew!

Have fun with your switchboard :)

HI, all

Thanks so much for your great help!

After enable the system objects, I saw the switchboard table, finally! Thanks !

Have a great weekend!

have they changed it?

i didnt think the switchboard items table was hidden?

mind you, its so long since i invoked one, as I just copy my switchboard form and table from app to app.
-------------

I DO think the hierarchical switchboard manager is very useful in large apps, with very many options - where it just isnt practical to put everything on a single form.

--------------
Out of interest, it is FAR easier to just edit the table directly than use the switchboard items management procedure.

And, one for the OP

- make sure you have an item 1 on every switchboard page. You can leave gaps eleswhere, but the form gets upset if there is no entry for item 1
- and note that it isnt TOO hard to change it, so that you get more than 8 items per page. (i generally have 17 or 21 on most of my apps - 2 columns, and an extra one, that I use for the "return to previous menu"
