Hello All,
I am new to this post, so please be patient. We currently have a vendor database that is used by several different employees at the company and it was created in Access 2000. The person who created this database is no longer with the company. I have been learning as I go. I had a user come to me (who doesn't log into it very often) stating the he received the following message. This member of the replica set has exceeded the maximum number of days allowed between synchronizations and can't be synchronized with any member of the replica set. Delete this replica set member and create a new replica. The database seems to be functioning for other employees (we are now on Office 2010). Any suggestions on the best way to resolve this for this user without interfering with the functionality of the other users? This database is only used on our internal network and not accessed out of the office. I will need very specific instruction as this is just one of the many hats I wear! Thank you in advance. If you need additional information, please feel free to ask.

The message states the problem and the solution. So far as I am aware it is not possible to change any setting to increase the number of days.

I presume the master copy is the back end and sitting on your network so suggest you instruct your user as to how to do this - i.e. browse to the network location, and copy the file to the local location before opening it - then make sure they sync if a) they make changes and b) before they leave the application.

If they are such a low usage user I would make this standard practice for every time they use the application - once a replica is unable to sync with the master, all changes in the replica are 'lost' in terms updating the master and you would need a routine to update the master directly with any changes.

Technology has moved on and network speeds have improved dramatically so it may be more practical now to remove replication from the application and have a lower risk setup of local front end linking to a network based back end.

Thank you CJ London for your reply. So the part of the message that he received that is asking Delete this repolica set member and create a new replica, should he just answer yes to this? So this won't create a problem for another user? Thanks is advance.

Assuming the replica is located on your users local drive then yes OK to delete, he will be the only one using it. Note as previously mentioned that he will lose any changes he has made since he last synced.

If the replica is on the network then possibly no and would beg the question as to why you are using a replica since they are usually used because the network connection is unreasonable slow or the user is not always connected
