Hi there again,

My question involves text formatting, memo fields and reports

is there some way to format the text in a memo field so that it comes up in italics or a different colour when it prints on the reports?

Say I wanted to say Your Bill is due NOW!

Now to make it stand out I might want to make it look like this

Your Bill is due NOW!

Now when I want to do that in Bulliten Board code I simply put square brackets around a capital letter b for Bold and square brackets and colour="red" if I want things in Red
Is there a simmilar thing i can do in access to make these things show up on the report?

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand your problem properly. You can easily format any field in a report in design view using the tools in the Formatting toolbar. Secondly why would you use a memo (unlimited text) field for a short message?.

I am not talking about a short message
I am talking about a comments field which is a memo, which then represents data in a report

So I need to be able to format a couple of words or short sentences within the comments field where it would be better to emphisize.

Basically I want to make a point within the comments field that I want them to read and take notice of. If you know what I mean? surely there is something that I can do???

How about splitting up the text so that the emphasied or coloured parts are different text boxes. Set the parmeters of ecah as required. The positioning could take a little juggling but once set should reproduce ok

Access doesn't support varible formatting per se, you need a RichText add in, search here for articles on the subject, Pat Hartman has posted links for one of them here on more than one post.

Have a look a lebans.com site, download the "Lady" file and another one made by a Bresilian chap. Only applies to forms, alas.
