Dear All,

I'm really sorry if this has been covered before but I was wondering if there is anyone that could help me.

By default Access 2003 uses the default file type of Access 2000. I know i can manually go to Tools / Options and then change the format under the Advanced Tab to use Access 2003 and this will change that windows users default.

I was wondering though is there a way of changing this setting globally for any user that logs in, or make this a default setting that can be copied from machine to machine via the registry etc?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Neil

It is a registry setting and could be globally updated through the users profile when they sign into their computer throught your network or you could send a .reg file to make the update if the user has admin permissionS on their computer. I do not have access 2003 so I cannot tell you the exact location of the registry value that needs to be updated but it will be in the area of \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\

That's news to me. My Access 2003 installations have always had 2002-2003 as the default and I've had to go change it to 2000 in order to work with them.

Is there a reason you need to change the users to do that? It only affects new databases and if you present them with a file of 2002-2003 format it will stay that way.

tools/options/advanced

top right is "default database format"
