Hey all...

So, I'm firing up Crystal Reports 11 for the first time....

I need to connect to an Oracle Server, however the option does not exist in the "Standard Report Creation Wizard" under "Create New Connection," nor does it exist in the "Database Expert" under "Create New Connection."

I've read several instruction manuals that tell me "just select Oracle...." only...Well, I cannot. I've reinstalled the software (and intentionally selecting a COMPLETE install, including - and I read the option with hope - oracle connectivity drivers) with no luck.

Should it be this hard? Is there a piece of software I need on my PC beyond Crystal?

Thanks,

Andrew

Have you installed the Oracle drivers? I remember having to have Oracle client tools installed in order for it to be there.

Welp. Not to my knowledge. I've installed OraHome81 and have been able to connect to the server with it...

Is the driver something I would find with my copy of Oracle, or with my copy of Crystal Reports?

It would be installed with Oracle or the Oracle tools, not Crystal.

Hi

Do you have a connection option in Crystal ODBC (RDO)? Thats where my Oracle connection is?

Does your Oracle DSN appear in the System DSN list.

Forgive the terminoligy I am no expert either....

Thanks, Bob - I'll look for it...

Racer -- Initially, it's okay for me to connect to Oracle with an ODBC connection; however a true Oracle connection is ideal. I've found ODBC to be generic and clunky.

Thanks to both of you.

Andrew
