The Win11 disaster explained

You can look up several YouTube videos on how to turn off Win11 "features" including a way to (registry-level) block Bitlocker, block Recall, block the feedback telemetry (gently referred to as "Personalization"), and a few other features.

How do you turn off the FileSnatcher feature? The stuff that gets stored in the cloud is super irritating. If I wanted it there, I would have put it there myself.

Assuming you mean autosaving of e.g. Word/Excel files to OneDrive, turn off the AutoSave feature in the application title bar

If you are talking about OnDrive then turn off backup of Desktop, Documents and Photos, which OneDrive turns on by default. Then don't store anything in the OnDrive folder. Office365 will autosave Office documents stored in OneDrive, not storing those documents in OneDrive will disable autosave.

Turn off Bitlocker while you are at it, no good will come from windows locking you out of your computer.

I recall seeing the Chris Titus tips on grooming your Win11. Pretty darned decent ideas. I used most of what he said.

I use this tool to fix a lot of the issues with Win11.

It needs to be run after every update, Win11 is BS and resets things with the updates.

I'm now trying some Kali and it's going well.
I used his winutil after forcing a Pentium laptop to Win 11. It made all the difference. I didn't realize that update might reset many things, so thanks for that. It's an old laptop, but is used only once a month.

Winhance is another solid option. I first use Rufus to tweak the ISO so I can skip most of the Microsoft setup stuff like OOBE (Out of Box Experience). It also lets you create local accounts on the Home edition. After that I run Winhance to clean out the leftover junk like Candy Crush and auto install the apps I actually want.

explorerpatcher is great for restoring common sense taskbar options. time for google to start making OS's, as microsoft's get worse every year.
i'm still on win10 as well as my wife, and not planning on changing to win11 until i absolutely can't find a quality working pc using win10, which I bet I can find refurbished laptops with win10 for another 5 years at least.
