Thinking about how to incorporate Schemes of Work

Hey all

I am currently exploring the possibility of adding another element to our Database.

Each of our courses has a scheme of work associated with it, and this is completed on a daily basis by the tutor for each student. These are currently just Word documents we print out.

Example.

I already have provided provision for recording attendance in the database, see below, (it may look a bit strange, but our training is ad-hoc so slightly different requirements than a college for example).

How would any of you go about approaching this?

Not exactly it varies depending on the course.

Approaching 200 and will rise, some of out course have upwards of 10 units, so a different SOW for each unit is required.

Hey

Thanks for your replies, this is a technique I have used in the past and you're videos reminded me off it.

I am still trying to work my head around how to incorporate this into the database though, interface and ease of use is key.

I already have tables containing a list of courses and then another table with all the units and these are linked accordingly.

For instance I am thinking it would be best to have it on the attendance form, however attendance is tied to the client ID and not a course ID, to check attendance for a course I just do a date range query.

The real question I need to answer is by putting all this in the database will it reduce tutors workloads enough to warrant the amount of work needed to achieve it.

In the ideal scenario it would work something like this

When filling in attendance, it would check

to see what course is being took currently
which units (if applicable) are in the course
populate a dropdown with the said SOW's
clicking on one of these SOW, loads a popup with a checklist for that SOW
once an exam has been passed, this units SOW would no longer show in the dropdown
a printable report to satisfy some of the panicky auditors we get

of course dates checklist items checked would have to be recorded to link it back to the day the client attended.

I am swaying towards giving each SOW it's own table, not best practice but could prove a lot easier in the long term.

After a few weeks working on a new marketing campaign I am back on this and still having difficulty deciding the best way to do it.
