Hi, can anyone advise where I am going wrong with attached query.
I just want the waiting time between two sets of time but I don't seem to be able to get the right figures.
I have tried to change the property of the query variable by going into the feild properties for the calculated feild but cannot find the Date/Time property listed. What am I doing wrong please. (using Access 97)

Also how would I get the Avarage waiting time for a particular day in the same query.

Thanks for any help with this.

In your query , you have calculated waiting time in day parts.
If you add : e.g. Wait2: [Waiting time] * 24 , you will get the number of hours , being the difference between Time In and Time out.

Thanks Rak for your help this does the trick , but is there not a less messy way around this. Why can't I change property to date/time for this feild in the query window in 97 or am I doing it wrong ?

Thanks

you probably can have a date time field. however when calculating differences between dates/times it will store the data as a fractional day. If you therefore present it, using a time format eg shorttime, you are OK providing the time is less than 24hrs, as the time will "wrap" to the next day thereafter.

I am also not sure what effect negative times would do, so perhaps that is why you are experiencing problems
