Too Many Controls?

I have a question, if it's not to late, is it possible to have a form that has too many controls, or pages? I seem to keep hitting the same brick wall. When designing a form that I hope to have linked to about 15 tables, i get to a point where the form stops allowing data entry, (when i get so far I go back to form view and test it and it stops working). Can anyone help??? :o
My 15 or so pages all relate back to a table that stores patient id which is the master key for all the relationships to the other tables. Let me know if i am not making sense... thanks for the help!

Yes, you can only have 754 controls on a form over the lifetime of the form (which includes those added and then deleted). If you have deleted several, you can copy and paste the form as a new name, delete the old form and then rename the new one back. It should reset the count for you. Make sure that Name AutoCorrect (also known as AutoCorrupt) is unchecked in your options before doing any of that.

Thank you so much for taking time to help- i have less than the max, and i keep starting from scratch, so i think i am ok there... is there anything you can think of that would work, I am DESPERATE for help. I am trying to create (what I thought would be a quick project) for a non-profit. just bought 2010 hoping to streamline my efforts. I have about 13 tables. I am trying to build a tabbed form. I believe that all my tables are set up correctly and the relationships are correct. I am not a beginner, but not an expert. But, I am frustrated! Every time I get more than a few tabs finished the main tab (the table one in the one to many relationship) stops working, ie, i can't enter or edit any data. I keep going in circles... any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Could there possibly be a way to use a navigation form instead of tabs, but make each of the "nav" forms display the related records to the record displayed in the first of the nav forms, does that make sense? My goal is to not have to make the gals at the non profit have to look up the child from scratch in each page, i am afraid it opens the door for mistakes... thanks again,

First of all, I think it might be wise for you to post a copy of your database with just the tables (no data is fine although some bogus data in each table so we can see representative view of what you are storing would be helpful). I'm just concerned that the table structure may not be properly normalized and we need to ensure that before worrying about forms.

the sample can be found at (trimmeragency.) (com/sample/ma_t.jpg) this forum says i can't post a link until i have at least 10 posts///

were you able to get that ok? :)

DESPERATE for HELP!

Thanks to anyone who has a moment to try to help me- is there a way to make all the forms contained in a navigation form controlled by the same combo box record lookup????

1. You can probably get away with the structure you have. It could probably be further normalized but we'll not go there at this point.

2. Do NOT name the ID field in each of the tables the same thing (i.e. ID1). Name it for what the table is. You'll appreciate that later when trying to track something down. So for Permissions - use PermissionID, for Contacts use ContactID, for Risk Factors use RiskFactorID.

2. Do not use special characters or spaces in names of fields or objects. That will simplify your life. So no Sib # - use SibNum or SibNo, no Photo-Pub use PhotoPub instead. And for heaven's sake no Family Court: Y/N with the colon or slash. Use FamilyCourtYN - or if you must, use an underscore - FamilyCourt_YN.

3. I would set it up so that the Child is the main form and then the other tables linked to it is its own subform on the main form. You can use a tab control for that. I don't know about the navigation control as I've had someone else have a hard time trying to refer to forms on it.

re the field names, yes i will take care of that... re "I would set it up so that the Child is the main form and then the other tables linked to it is its own subform on the main form. You can use a tab control for that",,, that is what i have been trying to do, and when i add about my 2nd or third subform the main form stops working... it won't let me enter or edit any of the fields... but you think it should be working??? I can try it again, for about the 20th time :)

Well, you need to change the links in your relationships. They should be INNER joins - not OUTER joins.

OK- i really do appreciate your help. will do that next.
