Can't get total row to show up on data sheet,

I have 2 columns
[Company Name]
[Total Spend] , this is an expression

I have the total row turned on and the [Total Spend] set to Sum

I have the [Company Name] set to Group By

I get a total spend by Company; but at the bottom of the [Total Spend] Column the Grand Total does not show up.

If I turn off group by on the [Company Name] then I just get the grand total spend and no other data,

I wanted both,

I don't have that problem. Have you tried reselecting sum on the totals row?

Also suspect your db needs to be accdb rather than mdb.

You could try rebuilding your form

I'm confused he is trying , in a query, to get totals by company and at the end a grand total, I have no idea that you can do that in a query, are you CJ saying that you can?

Brian

Hi Brian - not in a query, but in 2010 you have a new feature which will total a column in a datasheet view which might be of a table, query or a datasheet form. The total line acts a bit like a form footer in that it always shows - see attached which shows the ribbon option and the result which partially hides a row at the moment.

Hi CJ
Thanks for the update, I have never used Access 2010 and never will since I have no need for Access any more.
Having read the first post again I see he does mention data sheet so your information may be useful to him.

I try to stay away from the techie questions these days but there was no one else on so tried to help , guess I shouldn't .

Brian

Always worth a go - many of the new features are limited (for example the Total row is always 'Total', even if you are using Average, Count etc) which can be confusing.

Having said that it may be this can be changed via VBA
