Track changes to a table's field

Hi guys, I'm looking to track changes to a field in my Insurance database. Each Insurance advisor has a percentage of a total pool of investments. This is easy to show, with a field in my Advisor table.

However, how can I look back into the past and see what the advisor's investment was 2 months ago etc? I may have to report on such aspects

one way would be to have a entry per day so everyday there would be a new amount - this would allow a historic view .
a qry could be set up to copy "today" values to "Tomorrows" and then "Tomorrows" values could be changed and then at the end of the day repeat with a date stamp on it -

Or straight forward append qry should work ...
at the end of every day an append qry into a history table with a date stamp
but you woudl be dependent upon the data being correct at the end of the day - rather than people updating first thing in the morning
