training

Off topic question here ... I guess its sort of on topic. My question is in regard to training of new employees with an application. I've written several manuals along with a web page on how to use the tool...but we would like a more convenient visual / listening method such as a video off of a cd. Has anyone tried or had luck or even know of any free software which allows you to record mouse movements and voice to show off the application?

Appreciate any input,

Jon

powerpoint?

Have you thought about using Microsoft Powerpoint? It comes with MS Office, so you probably already have it. We have used it here for presentations. HTH

Re: powerpoint?

We've used powerpoint for training purposes...to explain what the db is used for and a little on how to use it...but when someone is sitting down in front of their PC i want them to view some sort of video file or mpg / avi which has sound as well and steps the user in creating records and so on.

Java -

we currently use a product called Hypercam available for download here: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,16480,00.asp

It is very simple and intuitive to download and start playing around with making avi files immediately and, best of all, the download copy is freeware with the codition that there is a blurb that says "unregistered" in the view which can be removed by purchasing the product...
