I wish to transfer an Access 2000 database from its location on computer1 to computer2 as computer1 is old and giving some problems. I then wish to have network users access the database on computer2. I have tried to copy the database from computer1 to computer2. When I then try to open the database on computer2 I receive the following message "Database has been converted from prior version using DAO CompactDatabase instead of Convert Database on Tools. This has left database in partially converted state."
If I then use the Convert Database option in Tools on the computer1 it only gives the option to convert to a "Prior Access Databse Version" but I don´t think this is correct as computer2 also uses Access 2000.
Can anyone offer advice? Thanks.

Sounds like it might be MDAC related. Have you compared the version of MDAC on the two computers?

Thanks FoFa. Although I created the database from scratch I am a novice when it comes to the technical aspects. I would not know how the compare the data access components on the two computers, however, given that one system is a lot older than the other I imagine this is logical. How should I check? Thanks.

Use this LINK and follow the instructions. Been awhile since I have done it.

I´ve checked the MDAC on both computers and both show the same version 2.7 RTM. Any further advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Just a thought...

The two Access versions you have installed are the same?
Copy the file to a shared area and try opening from there.
Try a repair facility on the mdb file?
