It seems that tribes are a side-effect of nature. Evolution must have contributed to the necessity of tribes, since survival depends on evolution. Given this hypothesis, does this explain why those with differing political views nail themselves to the mast of their own party?
The same happens in sports. I support team X, you support team Y. Rivalry and conflict ensues. Then regional tribes too. I am from the UK, you are from France. Enemies! Or adjacent towns have conflict. Men against women, young verses old, black verses white.
What benefit is there from this division, given that evolution has encouraged its development?
