Trouble setting columns and rows

I've tried everything I could think of and just can not figure out how to do this. For simplicity sake I'll use an analogy. I need to create a report about cars sold by quarter. So I want the user to be able to define a year (its only separate field) and then have the report generate the information for that year. Across the top, I need to have the columns grouped by quarter, but on the y axis there are three subdivisions: Make, type (sedan, coupe, etc) and color. So I can have both a Ford sedan that is red and honda sedan that is red and I need to be able to keep track of the counts sold by quarter and the percent change between quarters. I know I haven't really explained this very well, but I've tried every report generating trick I can think of and just do not know what to do. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated...

Ok, so I've figured out for myself that I need to do a Crosstabs Query and build a report on that, but I still can't figure out how to do the math for percent change between quarters as quarter is a field. I'm not sure how to write out that expression.
