That is certainly a problem and it should never have been approved. It was the Supremes making law again. A worse problem though is the lack of term limits. The Dems make great use of this ruling. NGO's funnel my tax dollars to entities that make multiple donations in the names of people who have no idea their name is being listed as a donor.

Other bad problems
No penalty for insider trading. This should result in immediate expulsion from Congress and a permanent ban on other public office.

It just looks like common sense to me. You cannot tax people at the extreme's or not at all, there is definitely a curve that biases maximum tax revenue that is generated consistently year after year. We need another napkin session showing all the rich people flowing from the communist states to Florida. The more you increase taxes on the rich, the more they take up residence elsewhere where they will be appreciated at a fair rate. So yes, you can maximize taxes on the rich for a short period of time, but it's just enough time for them to pack up and move elsewhere leaving the freeloaders holding the bag.

In 1982, top income tax rates were lowered from 70% to 35%, having a substantial economic effect. For the "big beautiful bill", the top rate is kept at 37% rather reverting to 39.6%. It is hard to see that would have much of an impact. In 1993, the top rate jumped from 31% to 39.6% and the economy continued to grow.

The Left on this, with the Republicans supporting a de facto wealth tax.

The Laffer curve still applies in extreme situations. Right now there is a 100% duty in Chinese EV's and negligible revenue. If the duty was lowered to 25%, we would be substantial tariff revenue.
