I am trying to access smartsheet from Access Database through ODBC connection.
It says ODBC-call failed.[1055]One and only one column must be primary. (#-1) can anyone say why and how to solve this issue, please?
Look forward to an answer.

never used smartsheet but the error is suggestive, it doesn't look like an error but is clue to
what must be done.

This is a linked Access database does that mean you can`t have a primary Column?
I think a primary Column is what I need is that right?

The problem is I am taking Data from another person`s Access Database and he is not keen on any interference with his work.
I have created a linked Access Database to his but can I add an ID column with Primary Key to Linked Database?

So the other user is sharing data by uploading to smartsheet? Not used it but suspect this is a question for them. Being a corporate one stop I suspect there will be something you will need install to excel and run to extract the data, then access gets from excel

edit-have you asked the other user how he uploads to smartsheet? Perhaps you can reverse engineer

Maybe it's like linking to a sql server table, where Access needs to be TOLD (if "primary key" designation has not been explicitly made in sql server, which it may not have been) which column is the primary key.

when you link to smart sheet, does access prompt you for which column is primary key?

but like i always tell people with these 3rd party things, see if they have an odbc driver that lets you create an actual dsn - going that route is easier than the connection strings I think

If you look at smartsheet docs, the leftmost column is by default the pk. Do you have a different one in your table perhaps?
