Basically can just HIDE those 2 boxes as well, no need for a user to even see them.

Only one problem. That only works if a user doesn't accidently input the wrong date for a shift / budget. If the shift or budget date is inputed wrong, then the attendance will be assigned to the wrong shift and budget.

Hmm..

I have to figure out which was is the best.

Currently, the return of the approbriate shift / budget is completely independent of the date and is all computer controlled. But, as stated, isn't the prettiest thing out there.

Users have to try to get something right. It is not possible to program so that the system knows when the incident took place. You control the things that are controllable.....After that you are in the same place as everybody else.
